The Derrick Rose Trade Has Me Feeling Some Type Of Way… Indifferent

Grant Anschuetz | Slump Sports

It feels like just yesterday when I was a freshman in high school, and I selected Derrick Rose as the first overall pick for my Dynasty Team on NBA 2K.

Now, I find myself indifferent to a trade that sent him to the New York Knicks.

My initial thought was that the Knicks made a horrible decision. A decision as bad as eating baked beans before a first date.

Rose has been nowhere near as explosive ever since his string of injuries. His contract is explosive though.

$21 million. Just for perspective, that’s roughy $4 million more than Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook.

But after some thinking and reading other opinions of people smarter than me, I’m just indifferent to the trade.

The Knicks had zero back court talent last year, and Rose averaged 16.4 points per game last year. Also, Rose will be able to open up more room and take away pressure for Carmelo Anthony.

Realistically, the Knicks can’t change their identity until Anthony retires or leaves. Now, they have at least given their fans something to watch until that re-building process starts.

By no means do I think that the Knicks will contend for a title anytime soon, but they have a chance to make the playoffs in a still weak Eastern Conference.

All of this will change if Rose gets injured again or if the Knicks sign Dwight Howard as their other big man. Howard is a cancer to every team he plays for.

Agree or Disagree? Let me know with a comment. Always appreciate feedback.

By the way, Russell Westbrook is the new “blow by everyone and dunk point guard” on 2K.
