This new article series labeled ‘Beginner’s Luck: Weekly Picks’ is designed to assist all of those who partake in the sports gambling world. It’ll consist of my suggested picks with a quick explanation for the week as well any suggestions or disagreements from readers in the comment section.
Saturday, October 8, 2016:
LSU @ Florida: Pick = LSU -3/-110 Reasoning = Riding the Coach Orgeron grind train into The Swamp. It’s a hostile environment, but it’s a noon game which helps.
Notre Dame @ NC State: Pick = over 63.5/-115 Reasoning = ND’s defense has been suspect all year, and both teams are averaging 40 points/game.
BYU @ MSU: Pick = BYU +6/-107 Reasoning = MSU’s defense is battered and bruised, but they should come away with a victory after two tough losses (but it won’t be by much).
Tennessee @ Texas A&M: Pick = TAMU -6.5/-110 Reasoning = Tennessee has been living on the edge all year, but I think it all comes to a boiling point when they travel to College Station.
Vanderbilt @ Kentucky: Pick = under 52/-110 Reasoning = Combined 45 points/game between these two teams.
Michigan @ Rutgers: Pick = Michigan -27.5/-110 Reasoning = Rutgers is not good. Michigan is coming off a big win and has destroyed their cupcake opponents in the past. No doubt New Jersey will be rocking at 7:00 p.m., but I would take the Wolverines. No doubt their QB will be ready to go with a little motivation from Coach Harbaugh.
Sunday, October 9, 2016:
NY Jets @ Pittsburgh: Pick = Pittsburgh -7/-110 Reasoning = The Steelers offense is complete with Bell back in the lineup, and the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick have struggled as of late. Dance Antonio Dance.
Houston @ Minnesota: Pick = Minnesota -6/-110 Reasoning = The Vikings are a surprisingly good team this year and keep grinding with many injuries. Their defense is key to their success, and I think winning by a touchdown is to be expected against this Texans team.
New England @ Cleveland: Pick = New England -10/-110 Reasoning = Brady is back. I don’t expect a ton of rust from either. Just a ton of built up anger after serving his four game suspension.
Philadelphia @ Detroit: Pick = Philadelphia -3/-105 Reasoning = The Carson Wentz led Eagles are off to a hot start, and the Lions are coming off a loss to the then 0-3 Bears, a team that the Eagles have already beaten this year. I look for Wentz to find more success against a weak Lions secondary and defense in general.
Check back in a few days to see how these picks fared. Also, comment below if you disagree or if you have any other suggestions for picks.
